Frequently Asked Questions – Albark Kennels

Common Questions About Our Puppies

What is your vaccine schedule?

Our puppies follow a comprehensive vaccination schedule to ensure their health and safety:

  • 5 weeks – First DAPP vaccine
  • 6 weeks – Kennel Cough vaccine
  • 7 weeks – Second DAPP vaccine
  • Every 3 weeks up to 13 weeks – Additional DAPP doses
  • 16 weeks – Rabies vaccine
What food are you feeding?

We feed Purina Pro Plan Chicken and Rice for puppies under two years old, providing balanced nutrition for healthy growth.

Are there additional supplement recommendations?

Yes! We recommend NuVet Supplements to support overall health, boost the immune system, and promote a shiny coat.

Are the puppies house-trained or have they had any training?

Our puppies live in a puppy nursery and go outside daily for walks. They are taught to follow off-leash from a young age, but unless enrolled in our training program, they do not receive additional formal training.

What kind of socialization do the puppies get?

We expose our puppies to children, other dogs, and farm animals daily, helping them develop into well-adjusted, confident companions.

How often do you breed the moms?

We follow natural breeding cycles and never force breedings. Our dogs determine their own heat cycles, ensuring ethical breeding practices.

What do we get at pick-up?

We offer three package options:
Basic Package: Puppy folder with paperwork, a bag of food, and NuVet vitamin samples.
Standard Package (+$50): Includes everything in the Basic Package plus a leash, collar, blanket, and puppy pads.
Deluxe Package (+$125): Includes everything in the Standard Package plus a slicker brush, puppy bowls, two rope toys, a heartbeat puppy, a crinkle toy, and chew bones.

What do we need for the ride home?

We recommend bringing a crate for transportation. If holding your puppy, bring old towels or paper towels in case of car sickness.

How long does the puppy need to acclimate?

Most puppies take 2-3 weeks to fully adjust. We follow the 3-3-3 Rule:
3 Days: Decompression and adjustment to their new environment.
3 Weeks: Learning your routine and feeling more comfortable.
3 Months: Fully settling into their new home.

How often do you groom a Doodle?

Doodles should be groomed every 6-8 weeks, either professionally or at home, to maintain a healthy coat.

How long have you been in the business?

We have been breeding for 20+ years. Alton started with other breeds in 2001 but has focused on Doodles and Retrievers for over 15 years.

What supplies do you recommend for a puppy?

We suggest having the following essentials ready:
Puppy pads
Toys (hard, soft, squeaky, chew toys)
Puppy enzyme cleaner for accidents
Collar and leash
Lots of treats for training
